A material that earns its surface over time.
Harvested from Indonesian waterways. Woven to structural tolerances. Tested across five years of hospitality use.

Reclaimed from waterways. Woven for load.
Water hyacinth is an invasive species in Kalimantan's river systems. Harvesting it removes biomass that would otherwise deplete oxygen levels — no virgin material enters production.
Dried fibres are sorted by diameter, then woven over steel-reinforced frames. Load ratings match or exceed comparable rattan weave at equivalent thickness.
The weave tightens as fibres cure to ambient humidity. Pieces delivered in 2019 show a visibly denser, darker surface than at first delivery — structural improvement, not cosmetic change.

Three finishes. All humidity-tested.
Natural
Bleached
Smoked
Heat-smoked before weaving. Deep amber-brown tone that remains stable. Used in high-traffic hospitality settings where consistent colour across multiple units is required.
Undyed. Fibres age from pale cream toward warm tan. Tested at 85% relative humidity for 18 months without structural deformation.
Hydrogen-peroxide treated. Holds a near-white ivory tone. Specified most often for air-conditioned hotel interiors where patina progression is slower.

This installation was delivered in 2019. The weave has darkened two tonal grades and tightened measurably. No repairs. No refinishing. The patina is the record.
